HomeScan Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
HomeScan is a free app for scanning a room or apartment with your iPhone and turning the scan into a floor plan. We built it so your information stays on your phone.
What we collect
Very little. HomeScan has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites.
The only thing we collect is anonymous usage statistics. These are counts of things like the app being opened, a scan being started or finished, how many rooms a scan found, a rough size range, and which features are used. We use them to find bugs and improve scanning. They aren't linked to your name, your Apple ID or any profile of you, and they never include your scans, floor plans, room names, addresses or location. We process them with PostHog, our analytics provider.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage stats.
What stays on your phone
- Scans and floor plans. The camera and LiDAR data from a scan, the floor plans made from it, room names and any address you type are stored only on your device. If iCloud Backup is on, they're included in your device backup, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy.
- Camera. The app uses the camera only while you scan, to measure the space. Video and images are never saved or sent anywhere.
Address suggestions
When you name a scan, you can type its address. While you type, HomeScan uses Apple Maps to suggest matching addresses, which means the text you type is sent to Apple to look them up. Apple's privacy policy covers that (apple.com/legal/privacy). HomeScan never asks for your location.
Sharing and exports
If you export a floor plan, it goes only to the app or person you pick in the iOS share sheet.
Feedback
If you send feedback from Settings, it opens a normal email in your Mail app. We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply and to improve the app.
Children
HomeScan isn't aimed at children and doesn't knowingly collect anything from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. If a future version ever shares more than anonymous usage statistics, it will ask you first, and this policy will say exactly what's shared.
